The Rev. Robert W. Asinger was called as the third Senior Minister in the Church by the Sea’s 68 year history. Rev. Rob has a Masters of Divinity from Harvard University’s Divinity School and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Davidson University in North Carolina. He has served churches in the greater Boston area before being called to the Church by the Sea in January of 2010. Rev. Rob uses his sense of humor and his background in biology to bring to life the scriptures through children’s sermons and preaching.
Prior to Rev. Asinger’s call to the Church by the Sea, she worked as the Chaplain at Lasell College, Tufts University and Newbury College in the Boston area. While acting as a chaplain, Rev. Asinger lectured in the area of ethics and social studies.
Prior to her ordination, she worked in the area of human services, serving the homeless, rape victims and battered women.
Rev. Barbara has a Master of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School outside of Boston. Rev. Barbara obtained her doctorate in Theology from Wesley Theological Seminary in May 2016.
Harold has led our Children’s Glee Club Choir and assisted with piano and voice lessons during our church camp and beyond. Harold also conducts the Gay Men Chorus of South Florida and a local Filipino Choir. Harold has a degree in Music from the University of Immaculate Conception in Davao City, Philippines, with a major in Piano.
Jeana brings a variety of skills along with artistic abilities. She has worked for the church for over 7 years first as a teacher and then as the Director, expanding our program and services to children and families. She teaches the high school students in church school every Sunday.
Jeana has a background in art education with wonderful gifts interpreting God’s love through the arts. She inspires and coordinates many of the Church’s group art projects.
Lu Anne is an award-winning teacher who has taught both elementary and middle school students in Broward County. She also shares her beautiful voice, performing in our Adult Choir each week since 2011.
She graduated from West Virginia University with a BM in Music Education, and is a nationally Board Certified teacher (early/middle childhood music) with a certification in Orff-Schulwerk.
Carolina is responsible for countless well-organized Youth retreats, fund raisers, parties, and field trips. Carolina has her Masters in Social Work. She is currently completing her hours to become a licensed clinician in the state of Florida. During the week, Carolina works counseling children and families.
Jo Ann has served on the Board of Directors, Christian Education Committee and now Scholarship Committee for many years at Church by the Sea. She is a remarkable teacher and human being. She has been nurturing little hearts, at our church, for a number of years. She has assisted in training and hiring our staff of teachers and guided the development of our church school program. Jo Ann’s dedication to the nurturing of young minds and hearts can be felt in everything she does.
She has a B.S. and a M.A. and is also the Director of the Lower School at Miami Country Day School, and notable, Jo Ann is an award-winning teacher.
Susi is referred to by staff and parents alike as the baby whisperer. She is a professional Kindergarten Teacher in Sebring, and her love of teaching, her gentle manner and her numerous skills have enhanced our church.
Kady has been with the church for almost nine years, improving the quality and care offered to our toddlers during her tenure. She has enhanced teaching methods and activities offered to our children and in her spare time managed to earn her Master’s Degree in Science in Occupational Therapy from FIU. Kady works in a pediatric rehabilitative clinic, as well as in a rehabilitation hospital with the adult population.
Rose graduated with her Master’s Degree from Florida International University this May with a concentration in school counseling. She works for Miami-Dade County Public Schools as a School Psychologist. Rose began directing the Middle School Youth Group along with Roberto Figueroa in 2018.
