On a Journey to Make a Difference

The Church by the Sea has been working for over five years to find a new home that will allow us to better serve both our congregation and the broader community. During that time, Church members have voted by more than 90% at several congregational meetings reiterating our commitment to this journey despite the difficulties that invariably accompany any courageous life changing choice of faith.

Our Christian faith is about the new and glorious life that is born of sacrifice. This lesson is part of both the Christmas and Easter story. But sacrifice is hard. It can be painful and grief filled. Yet sacrifices made so new life and healing can take root in our community and world are Holy acts. From such sacrifices God’s Holy presence arises in this world in miraculous, unpredictable and sacred ways. Such is the case for our decision to create a new home for the Church by the Sea.

We have sold our building in Bal Harbour and have been working with the town of Bay Harbor Islands seeking approval for our plans for a new church building on the property we own at 1000 Kane Concourse (the current location of Ocean Cadillac). We are excited for our future and for the future of our community as a whole. The sale of our old dilapidated building and the construction of our new church building, will allow us the space and resources to better serve the community in ways never possible in our old building.
